Whiskers and Tails boosts the human animal bond by assisting low-income companion animal families, focusing on seniors and individuals in delicate situations. We provide hands-on support, ensuring pets receive the care they deserve. By engaging the community, we help humans and pets thrive together.

About Whiskers and Tails

What We Do

At Whiskers and Tails we believe in helping our neighbors in need.  Both humans and animals. We ensure that both low-income humans and their companion animals receive the basic and essential things they need to thrive.  We focus on providing aid and outreach to seniors, veterans, survivors of domestic violence, displaced homemakers and entire families and their companion animals.  We offer a lifeline when they need it the most.

Our Services

Our board reviews countless applications for assistance at the beginning of each year, selecting those with the greatest need. Some of the services we provide for our pre-approved families and individuals include:

  1. Clothing and Basic needs: Supplying essential items like clothing, cleaning supplies, paper products and bedding, heaters and furnace repair or replacement in the winter months, and air conditioners and fans in the summer months.

2   Small home repairs for seniors and veterans: Offering small home repairs for the elderly and veterans,

including roofing and flooring as it is needed.

3   Food and Supplies: Providing human food, animal food, including animal prescription foods, cat litter,

bedding, and other animal care supplies and items.

4  Financial Assistance for veterinary care: We help people pay for urgent, emergency, and ongoing

veterinary care for their companion animals.

5  Human medical supplies: We provide diabetic supplies, hospital beds, bed pans, shower chairs, and

        walkers for humans.

6  Weekly Deliveries: We deliver both human and animal foods, paper products, and personal hygiene items,

craft items, books and magazines, and other supplies every week to veterans and seniors. â€‹

We also have a Hope for the Holidays Program. We virtually adopt our families and their companion animals by telling their stories and listing their needs, as well as a wish or two.

Why What We Do Matters

20190408_135857_edited.jpg

Every day, we witness the profound bond between people and their companion animals. For most seniors and many veterans, their animals are more than just pets. They are family members. They are the pillars they lean on when they need someone to be there for them when they are at their lowest point.

By offering these programs and services, we have saved the lives of over 5,000 animals because by helping the humans that care for them, we are helping companion animals stay at home where they belong.  Not being given up to overcrowded shelters or losing their lives because their humans cannot afford their care.

Shirley had no money for the vet when

her cat got sick. The vet told her to just put

the cat down if she couldn't afford to pay

for his care.

MowZer was the only family she had. She

would have been devastated and

we all know what an emotional toll that is

for an elderly woman.

Shirley would have gone into a deep

depression if she would have lost MowZer.

We came in and paid the vet bill with

donations that came from you. MowZer is

still here five years later. Shirley is doing

well and she is very happy that her

little one is still with her.
